Investigation of pistachio susceptibility in patients with allergic symptoms on children

Pitostachio is one of the foods hich often causes allargy on children. The aim of our research is to reveal frequency of pistachios sensitivity, find out the relation with the other allergic diseases and take precaution aganist possibility of anaphylaxis in case of sensitivity of pistachio. 312 children patients between 1-16 ages who have atopic dermatitis, urticarial, asthma, broncihitis, allergic rhinitis, wheezing children or consult with other diagnosises were included in this research between August 2017 and December 2017 in Children Allergy Immunology Department in Şahinbey Resarch and Application Hospital. The level of pistachio specific IgE and serum total IgE, the number and percentage of blood eosinohile of these children were researched. Standard skin prick test, fresh pistachio and prick to prick were done. There were 213 (%68,3) patients who have positive standard skin prick test. While 51 (%16,3) children's pistachio specific IgE, 48 (%15,3) children's pistachio prick to prick was positive; 72 (%23,2) had pistachio sensitivity. 56 (%77,8) of 72 childredren male and 16 (%22,2) were female. A significant difference between fameless and males detected (p=0,001). A weak significant correlation positively was detected between pistachio IgE degree and pistachio's prick to prick diameter (r=0,383, p=0,007). After the effect of age was removed, significant correlation was observed between the result of cstandard skin prick test and allergy of pistachio (p=0,001). There was a positive symptom and standard skin prick test in 65 (%90,3) patients who have pistachio sensitivity (p=0,001 A significant correlation was found between both of the). It is estimated that the risk of pistachio allergy is 5,5 higher for patients whose prick test was positive. 48 (%25,3) out of 312 participants of study are found to have a sensitivity prick test for pistachio, however 34 ( %10,2) of them sensitivitiy for peanut. 35 (%72,9) people with asthmatictraits were found to have pistachio sensitivity in the prick test, 23 (%67,6) people were found to have peanut sensitivity in the prick test. In patients with allergen sensitivity, sensitivity to pistachio is also observed, also it is more by the sensitivity of peanuts. This also reveals that pistachio should be added to standard skin prick test.
