The effect of learning environments enhanced with multi-sensory reading activities on reading comprehension

The general aim of the study is to determine the effect of learning environments enriched with multi-sensory reading activities on the reading comprehension skills of primary school fourth grade students. Within the framework of this general purpose, it is also aimed to investigate the effect of learning environments enriched with multi-sensory reading activities on reading comprehension strategies and reading motivation. For these purposes, a quasi-experimental model with pretest-posttest control group was used in the model of the research. In the 2020-2021 academic year, Turkish lessons in a private primary school in Bodrum, Muğla were conducted in the experimental group with the Turkish program enriched with multi-sensory activities prepared by the researcher, and the existing Turkish curriculum was used in the control group. The research took ten weeks. The research data were obtained by using the "Reading Comprehension Test", "Reading Comprehension Strategies Test" and "Reading Motivation Test". In the analysis of the data obtained from the research, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Mann Whitney U test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank test were used. Considering the results obtained from the research, those results have been achieved: "The Turkish curriculum enriched with multi-sensory reading activities is more effective than the current Turkish curriculum in the development of reading comprehension skills.
