Determining the tanatophobia status of nurses duringthe COVİD 19 pandemic process

The descriptive research, which was conducted to determine the tanatophobia status of nurses during the COVID 19 pandemic, was carried out with nurses working at Atatürk University Research and Application Hospital between October and December 2020. The research population consisted of 260 nurses who voluntarily accepted to participate in the research and were not on leave at the time of the research. Data were collected using the "Descriptive Information Form" and "The Thanatophobia Scale". 20% of the nurses were diagnosed with COVID 19, 30.8% had a family history of COVID 19, 96.2% took protective measures during the COVID 19 pandemic, 98.8% feared the transmission of COVID 19 to their relatives, 84.2% 19 were afraid of getting infected with COVID 19, 60.8% were afraid of dying during the COVID 19 pandemic, 59.6% had sleep problems during the COVID 19 process, 76.9% did not receive training on coping strategies during the COVID 19 period, 66.9% were experienced helplessness, hopelessness, anxiety during the COVID 19 period. It was concluded that the mean score of the Thanatophobia scale of the nurses was at a moderate level, and that the state of constantly and permanently experiencing death anxiety and fear was significant.
