Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this cross-sectional study is to examine the effect of manager communication on job satisfaction in critical care units in hospitals during the COVID-19 period. The population of the research consists of 1,312 nurses working in the critical care units of a university hospital operating in the city center of a province, 2 public hospitals affiliated with the Provincial Health Directorate and 3 private hospitals between 01.01.2022 and 01.04.2022. 359 nurses working in critical care units of hospitals participated in the research on a voluntary basis. In order to learn personal data and job characteristics from critical care unit nurses as a data collection tool in the research; A survey form including "Personal Information Form", "Manager Communication Scale" and "Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale" was used. Mann-Whitney U test, Student-t test, Analysis of Variance, Correlation and Multivariate Regression analyzes were used as statistical analysis in the research. According to the correlation analysis, positive significant relationships were found between manager communication and job satisfaction in nurses working in critical care units. According to regression analysis, it was determined that manager communication strongly affected job satisfaction. As the level of communication between critical care unit nurses and their managers increases, their job satisfaction levels also increase. During COVID-19, critical care unit nurses, who breathe the same air in the same environment with patients 24 hours a day, are in constant contact with patients, monitor their vital signs and general condition, and provide care have played a very important role in this process. In such extraordinary situations, it is very important for nurses working in critical units to provide efficient and effective service for their job satisfaction. It can be argued that the communication skills of managers and executives will also contribute to the creation of safer healthcare environments by increasing the level of job satisfaction.
