Educational philolosophy of the Republic Period

The base of today's educational system and educational institutions was laid during the modernization process of the Republican Period. With the establishment of the Republic, it was aimed to establish a new educational system and social education campaign was carried out. The founding philosophy of the state formed the philosophical foundations of the education system as well. Therefore, philosophical and current of thought that constitute the idea of the Republic have shown their effect in the field of education. The subject of the study of the Philosophy of Education in the Republican Period is to examine the era in which the foundations of today's education system and institutions were laid, the conditions in which it was found, the currents of thought that it was influenced within the framework of the educational background it inherited, and to address it in terms of educational philosophy. Understanding the philosophical foundations of the education system requires analyzing the ideological current and thought systems of the day. For this reason, in order to understand the educational philosophy of the Republican period, the modernization process of the Ottoman Empire should be considered well. The research consists of three parts and in the first part, under the heading of Modernization and Education in Ottoman Empire, which started with the Reform process, Reform Edict in the Ottoman Empire, II. Constitutional Monarchy and the reform efforts during the period of Abdülhamit II. were analysed and the progress in the field of education were studied In the second part, under the title of the Republican Period Education; The effects of ideological movements on the world in the Republican Period and their effects on Turkey, the effects of power-education and how they affect each other in terms of philosophy of education, the ideological functions of education in Republic Period, the effects of positivism in education were studied. In the third part, the effect of Foreign Expert Reports on Republican Education and the position of Language Revolution in Turkish education system are examined.
