Abstract (EN)

Migration is one of the factors that change the demographic structures of the regions. Migrations may be voluntary or compulsory although they can occur for different reasons. The settlement of those who came as a result of a migration is within the scope of resettlement policies. Anatolia, throughout its thousands years of history, has been one of the geographies shaped by the concept of migration. Çorum, which is located in this geography, has been one of the places that meet the migration movements from time to time. Since the middle of the 19th century, Çorum was also affected by the Muslim-Turkish migrations due to the increasing loss of territory by the Ottomans. This population flow has also reshaped the demographic structure of Çorum. When it comes to the Republican Period, the settlement policies, implemented as a result of external migrations have been effective in the process of nation-state formation. The settlement policies of the New Turkish State were also implemented in Çorum and took its place in the history of the city. Those who came to Turkey with the Turkish-Greek Population Exchange and other external migrations were settled in Çorum. In this thesis, policies such as the use of abandoned properties for the immigrants, the establishment of new villages and the construction of new immigrant houses in the existing villages were evaluated through the Akpınar, İkipınar and Kadıkırı villages of Çorum. Although they differ according to villages, the marks of migration continue to exist socially, socio-culturally and economically even today.
