Abstract (EN)

This study, emphasizes on diplomatic events which bring Ottoman Empire to the period of dissolution and also explains the diplomacy of the Ottoman Empire from the foundation to dissolution. It has been confirmed that the Ottoman Empire has different diplomatic methods until 1793 and after that year. The reason is that until 1793, The Ottoman Empire was confident about its power and traditions and also thought that because of religion beliefs there wouldn't be long-term relationships with christian countries. Until 1793, The Ottoman Empire sent ambassadors to Europe, when it was necessary. However, most of them were not only ignorant but also bat at foreign languages. After 1793, this situation changed. From this date, Ottoman Empire understood that it got weaken compared to European countries and made some changes about diplomatic methods. We can see its consequences analysing the first embassy residences opened during Sultan Selim. Turning Translation Office and Reisulküttab into Foreign Ministry are other consequences of modernisation methods in the diplomatic field. However, the Ottoman Empire launched diplomatic operations lately and fell behind European; as a result, this condition led to the dissolution period at Ottoman Empire.
