Abstract (EN)

Tree volume estimates are necessary and useful for sustainable management of wood resource, scientific research studies and practical forestry purposes. Stem diameter and stem volume models are one of the most reliable ways to estimate tree volume. Accurate taper and volume equations are an important component of most inventory systems for use in predicting stem diamaters, form, and tree volume. Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) is an important industrial plantation tree species used in the forest products industry. Constantly changing market conditions require the development of accurate and reliable diameter and volume models to meet standards. Unfortunately, the volume tables currently in use are insufficient to meet this need. In this study, stem diameter and volume equations were developed for Dalaman region Eucalyptus plantations using 244 sample trees. For this purpose, 9 stem profile models in different forms were used. Kozak (2004), Muhairwe (1999) , and Fang et al. (2000) provided the best results for both volume and taper predicitons. In addition, volume estimates were made in terms of diameter classes in order to determine the accuracy and reliability of the models developed among the different parts of the stem. By using these models, more reliable diameter and volume estimations can be made for eucalyptus plantations in the corresponding region.
