Analysis of environmental passions of accommodation businesses in the context of adaptation to changing climate and sustainable tourism in the framework of green organizational behavior and green core competence

Today, due to increasing environmental problems and climate change, sustainability has gained an important place in tourism, as in all sectors. Tourism is a sector that directly interacts with the environment due to its structure. It almost owes its existence to the environment and environmental conditions, but it also has the potential to harm the environment the most. Therefore, adapting to the changing climate and adopting a sustainable tourism approach is vital for the continuity of the sector. The environmental passion of employees, their development of environmentally sensitive behaviors, and the adoption of a green business approach by businesses play a key role at this point. In addition, the fact that businesses have green core competencies, i.e., their capacity to transform environmentally friendly practices into an institutional competence, provides a strategic advantage for the success of a green process. Thus, environmentally sensitive individuals and an organizational structure based on environmental sustainability will strengthen the tourism sector's adaptation to climate change and provide a competitive advantage to the sector in the long term. Within the scope of the study, the relationship levels between environmental passion and green organizational behavior, environmental passion and green core competencies, and green core competencies and green organizational behavior were tested, and a positive and significant relationship was found between them. In addition, the effect levels of environmental passion on green organizational behavior and green core competence, and green core competence on green organizational behavior were tested, and it was concluded that there was a positive and significant effect. In addition, the study tested whether green core competence played a mediating role in the effect of environmental passion on green organizational behavior, and it was determined that green core competence had a mediating role.
