Perceived Kurdish question perception: Solution period (2005-2015)

The Kurdish problem is one of the most important problem of the Republic of Turkey which has inherited a multicultural structure from the Ottoman Empire. This problem has caused thousands of people to lose their lives, as well as causing massive economic losses and huge migration fluctuations. The problem which was dealt as a backwardness concern started to be dealt as a security issue with the emergence of the PKK after the 1980's. For about 40 years, serious political and sociological breakdowns have occurred because of this point of view which ignored the facts. Seeing this problem as a political and social one, it was discussed with the academicians, intellectuals, opinion leaders from domestic and foreign communities who are in this field or working on it. The data obtained from these interviews shed light to the change it went through during the period of "The Resolution Process", the perceptual change of this social problem, and the sociological, political and cultural underpinnings have been tried to put forward. The ruling party, AK Party, who came to power in 2002 proposed different resolutions by looking from a different perspective. The Prime Minister Erdogan's speech in 2005 also caused the issue to gain momentum. The process that has changed from "Democratic Opening" to "National Union and Brotherhood Project" has continued with the last name of "Solution Process". Even though the "Solution Process" was not continuing during the time of the interviews, through the negotiations with the right interlocutors, the conviction that the Kurdish problem can be solved with decisive steps emerged as the general view.
