Abstract (EN)

7.SUMMARY Erythropoietin (Epo) is a cytokine-hormone that has been shown to be therapeutic in experimental models of acut and chronic central nervous system disorders. Epo has an important factor on the growth, protection and recovery process of nervous system. In many in vivo and in vitro studies. It has been determined that Epo and Epo receptors was found to be in nervous system. It has been shown that Epo has a neuroprotective effect on various cell culture and experimental animal models. In this study, by using intraluminal sutur, the rats has been exposed to transient MCAO for two hours. After transient MCAO, Epo and Salin has been used and then by the evaluation of macroscopic and microscopic lesion field and neurological functions we have investigated the neuroprotective effect of Epo. The neurologic function of Epo treated rats was found to be better about %25 than the control groups. We have macroscobically found about %50 reduction in infarct field. We microscobically observed a recovery in ischemia cell changes of Epo treated rats in comparison with salin treated rats. This findings are suggesting that Epo can find a clinical application in treatment of neurological disorders. Key words: Experimental Ischemic Brain, Erithropoietine. 63
