A study on names related to sex organs in Derleme Sözlüğü

Basic vocabulary elements are frequently referred to identify language families. These vocabulary elements are generally not borrowed from other languages and are largely resistant to change. The same situation is observed in organ names, which are among the basic words. It is possible to examine the organ names in three categories: main base, intermediate base and side base. In this context, sex organ names are considered as side base words. One reason for this has been shown to be that the borrowing mechanism comes into play more effectively when it comes to these names due to the language speakers' understanding of privacy. Another point that draws attention in the naming of sexual organs is that there is an excess in number in this field compared to other organ names. This study aims to reveal what kind of methods language speakers apply when naming the sex organs. In the study, the problem of basic words was reconsidered in the context of sex organ names, and the reasons affecting the evaluation of sex organ names in the group of side basic words were discussed. The names of the sex organs in Turkey Turkish dialects were scanned from Derleme Sözlüğü, classified according to certain criteria, and grammatical explanations were provided for the names in some places. In the study, the number of sex organ names was stated and sociolinguistic analyzes were tried to be made based on the social reasons that cause name diversity. As a result of the study, it was determined that the names of tools, animal names and other organ names were generally used when naming the sex organs.
