Abstract (EN)
Aim The aim of this studyis to compare the effectiveness of phytotherapeutics, which are frequently preferred in diabetes patients in our country. Materials and Method In our study, rats were divided into 11 groups. Diabetes was created with streptozotocin (STZ; 60 mg / kg pH: 4.5) with ip applied. In the samples taken 3 days after STZ application, blood glucose was measured and those exceeding 300 mg / dl were considered diabetic. Rats were divided into groups according to their glucose level and weight. 3 months, glibenclamide (600 µg / kg), St. John's Wort (200 mg / kg), fenugreek seeds (2 g / kg), black cumin (2 g / kg), olive leaf extract (500 mg / kg), pot of pomegranate (600 mg / kg), cinnamon (200 mg / kg), 1 white mulberry leaf (1 g / kg) and ginseng (1 g / kg) are standardized with a single dose gavage method per day. Done. Weights were measured weekly and blood samples were taken from the tail vein. In these samples, weekly blood glucose level and lipid profile and HbA1C level were evaluated at the end of the study. Results There was a significant decrease in glucose and HbA1c values compared to diabetes and glibenclamide groups in the group of St. John's Wort, cinnamon, fenugreek seeds and olive leaves. There was no significant decrease in weight value between groups. Yellow corn and fenugreek seeds significantly decreased in total cholesterol value compared to diabetes group. In HDL, fenugreek seeds, olive leaves and cinnamon were significantly increased compared to diabetes group. Conclusion We obtained significant improvements in the weight, blood glucose level and impaired blood lipid profiles of the phytotherapeutics we applied in our study. Antidiabetics can be recommended as complementary therapy.
