A research on the relationship of religiosity, cognitive flexibility and anger control

The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between religiosity, cognitive flexibility and anger control, which have an important place in individuals' lives. The sample group of the research consists of 339 students studying in different faculties of Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University in the 2022-2023 academic year. In our research, the "Religious Life Scale" (RCS) was used to collect data on religiosity, the Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (CEE) was used to collect information on cognitive flexibility, and the "Multidimensional Anger Scale" (MDSS) was used to collect data on anger management. The collected data were analyzed with the help of SPSS. In our research, it was determined that there was a positive, significant and low-level relationship between religiosity and cognitive flexibility, and as the participants' religiosity scores increased, their cognitive flexibility scores increased. There is a negative and significant relationship between religiosity and the interpersonal anger scale and revenge subscale; It was determined that as religiosity scores increased, the sample's interpersonal anger scores decreased, meaning their anger control increased. In the regression analysis, in which religiosity and its dimensions were entered as independent variables, and cognitive flexibility and interpersonal anger dimensions were entered as dependent variables, it was determined that religiosity significantly predicted cognitive flexibility, but did not predict interpersonal anger control.
