Abstract (EN)

Many people suffer from a condition known as diabetic foot infection (DFi), which is one of the most common public health problems in the world. Chronic ulcers leading to amputation are a serious condition that can negatively affect the quality of life of diabetics. Between December 2021 and March 2022, A total of 300 samples were collected from diabetic foot ulcer patients aged 30-89 years admitted to Al-Kindy Teaching Hospital. Of the 300 isolates obtained in the study, 171 Gram + showed properties. Vitek 2 and biochemical tests were used for the detection of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. In the data obtained, it has been determined that men are infected more frequently than women. In addition, according to the data presented in this study, HbAIC values were found to be higher in men than in women. In the antibiotic tests performed with the Vitek2 AST device, 100% resistance was detected against Oxacillin, Benzyl Penicillin, and 100% sensitivity against Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin and Tigecycline. Detection of the MecA gene was made by PCR. At the same time, the prevalence of NorA gene was determined as 97% among bacterial isolates using PCR technique. The Iraqi isolate identified for the first time in our study was registered in NCBI with the identification number ON2442431 for the NorA gene and ID: ON551387 for the MecA gene.
