Abstract (EN)

This study investigates the interaction between DN, inflammatory status, and oxidative stress. As well as the effect of oxidative stress biomarkers on patients with DN. The study population was 87 participants (Patients = 57, HCs = 30), the patients were divided into three stages (3, 4, and 5) based on the GFR values; according to (MDRD) equation. The current study showed that Adiponectin (ADP), Malondialdehyde (MDA), and Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) levels were elevated in all stages of disease progression as compared with healthy controls. When compared the increased levels of ADP, MDA, and TNF-α, we observed that the levels of ADP and MDA was higher increased compared to the slight increase in TNF-α. Where TNF-α considered an inflammatory state that leads to increased levels of ADP. Through the study of receiver operating characteristics curve analysis (ROC curve) the results have been showed that ADP and MDA have a high AUC in all stages (3, 4, and 5). While TNF-α was in lower AUC in all three stages. The results of the current study indicate that ADP can be considered as a good indicator to diagnosis in early stage of disease development, since it is an anti-inflammatory who's increased due to the presence of inflammatory cells represented by TNF-α. MDA is also considered as a good indicator of the progression of diabetic nephropathy, which explains the association of oxidative stress with DN.
