Abstract (EN)

In this study, the protective effects of oriental hackberry (Celtis tournefortii) were evaluated in rats that were toxic to liver by copper sulphate. Thirty-two Wistar albino breed rats were divided into four groups (control, copper sulphate, copper sulphate+celtis, celtis). Each mouse in the control group received 1ml saline for 28 days. Copper sulphate and copper sulphate+celtis group mice were Ct extract for 28 days. And also, copper sulphate solution was given on Mondays and Fridays. Celtis group was given Ct extract for 28 days. Aspartate Aminotransferaz (AST), Alanin Aminotransferaz (ALT), Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) and Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) lewels were determined. In addition, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, glutathione (GSH) content was determined in the liver. Again, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Glutathione Peroxidase (GPx) and Catalase (CAT) activities were measured in antioxidant defense system parameters. Total Antioxidant Level (TAS) and Total Oxidant Level (TOS) were also determined. According to the findings, although the AST, ALT, LDH and ALP levels increased in BS group, BS+Ct group decreased. MDA and TOS in liver tissue decreased statistically in BS group and BS+Ct group. GSH and TAS were significantly decreased in the BS group and significantly increased in the BS+Ct group. Antioxidant enzymes in the liver were significantly decreased in SOD, CAT and GPx activites in BS group, but increased significantly in BS+Ct group. According to these result obtained, Ct can be therapeutically protective against copper poisoning of plant.
