Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the change in interregional key sectors in the world and Turkey to adapt this to this change were analyzed. In this study, the input-output tables have been used for the years 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2014 taken by the World Input-Output Database (WIOD). In the first section of the study, economic development theories and the importance of the key sector in development have been emphasized. First, the concepts of economic growth and development are tried to be explained and then development theories are examined. Finally, assessments on the importance of the key sector in economic development are presented. In the second section of the study, input-output analysis is focused on. First of all, the theoretical emergence of Input-Output analysis, its development and its economic importance has been put forward and then the quantity analysis of the input-output model is given. Finally, a brief review of the literature related to the input-output analysis is presented. In the third section of the study, using world input-output tables prepared by the World Input-Output Database (WIOD) for 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010,2014, Turkey and 11 regions around the world have been compared by years and investment priority sectors have been examined whether Turkey has adapted to key sector changes in the world. As a result of the analysis, it has been determined that key sector changes have been experienced in all parts of the world for years and new key sectors have emerged in every period. Although Turkey is parallel with the change in investment priorities in the world in general, in terms of the key sectors, only textile and infrastructure services sectors emerged as key sectors in 2014.
