Abstract (EN)

Emotional intelligence which has increased its significance respectively in business and social life as a result of socio-economic developments and globalisation in the world as well modern life arises as an important concept. Emotions contributes to intelligence level of human and pleasure of life when it is perceivedin that way. Within this context, emotional intelligence which includes superior skills with perception, evaluation and expression of emotions well by people, and using ideas and behaviors by eliminating the emotions has a significant role in career choice of an academician and success in business life. Emotional intelligence which supports the competitiveness among academic members as in all organizations provides more positivity and success in career choices. The aim of this research is to identify the influences of emotional intelligence in career choice and determine the relations between variables. Within this framework, a survey is conducted in 145 academic member working at Avrasya University which provides an higher education in Trabzon province. The results of survey is evaluated by SPSS 18.0 programme and the reliability of scales is calculated with Cronbach α values, and percent and frequency values of demographic factors is gauged. Mean, standart deviation, variance, kurtosis and skewness of descriptive data of variables in the elements of study is determined. Correlation and regression analysis is used to test the hypothesis of the study aiming to determine the influences of emotional intelligence in career choice. Thus, influences of emotional intelligence in career choice is identified.
