Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between parents ' levels of parental self-efficacy and their skills to manage emotion. A total of 832 people, 530 of them mothers and 302 fathers, participated in the study. The sample of the research are the parents of the middle school students who attend school in Çukurova, Seyhan, Yüreğir and Sarıçam districts of the Central Districts of Adana province, and the sample is determined by stratified and nonselective sampling method. In order to collect data " Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher, data on parental self-efficacy adapted to Turkish by Demir and Gündüz ( 2015), validity and reliability studies conducted "parental self-efficacy scale", data on emotion management skills were collected by Çeçen (2002) with the "emotions management skills" scale. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted to understand whether parental self-efficacy differed according to emotion management skills. Prior to this, parental self-efficacy, which is the argument, was categorised. Post-Hoc techniques were used to understand which groups the difference was from, since parental self-efficacy scale scores divided into three categories showed a significant difference between the groups after one-way variance analysis was applied. There is a significant difference between the "verbal expression, showing emotions as they are, coping, anger management" subscales of the emotion management skills scale and the arithmetic averages of parental self-efficacy level scores. No significant difference was found between the numeracy averages of parental self-efficacy level scores and the ability to control negative bodily responses sub-scale of emotion management skills scale. Keywords: Parental self-efficacy, emotions management skills.
