The criticism of Abu Said al-Sîrâfî to Sibeveyhi's appeal

The first work to reach the elimination of Arabic linguistics is al-Kitâb of Sîbeveyhi. Al-Kitab, which was allegedly written between 175-180 / 791-796, is in the possession of three or four generations of language studies beginning with Abu'l-Esved ed-Duli and his students and continuing until Sibaywhi. al-Kitâb does not have some features that have become tradition in writing books in later periods. In this sense, there is no mention of the writer himself and his purpose and briefly describing the content of the book, starting with the praise and salat cümleler of the work. The book does not contain such a conclusion. Because of the reputation of Sîbeveyhi's book, it is a book beside napists. When someone in Basra was told to read al-Books, it was no doubt understood that Sîbeveyhi read al-Kitabı, half of it. Therefore, neither the linguists who lived in their period nor the later ones have survived this reputation of al-Kitab and entered the way of commenting on it. Sîbeveyhi is the most popular and well-appreciated book of Şerhu Kitabı Sîbeveyhi, which was received by Ebu Said al-Sîrâfî (d. 368/979). The way Sîrâfî follows in this commentary is a scientific path. He did not take sides with Sîbeveyhi while commenting, and he brought objections to him from time to time, and he expressed falsehood about the matter in a superior style and insisted on the wrong. In doing so, he has not neglected to take advantage of the evidence, neither contemporary nor scholars who lived before. In this work, we have studied this book, which is the product of such an endeavor, and tried to read, understand and convey the objections brought by Sîrâfî to Sîbeveyhi within the means of our possession.
