The effect of managers' communication skills on organizational climate in independent kindergarden schools (Example of province Diyarbakır)

The main aim of this research is to assess the effect of school managers' communication skills on organizational climate, on the base of the views of teachers who are employed in independent kindergarden in Diyarbakır central districts (Bağlar, Kayapınar, Sur, Yenişehir). Relational scanning model is used in this research which has been designed as descriptive study. The research population consists of the teachers who are employed in independent kindergardens in central districts of Diyarbakır (Bağlar, Kayapınar, Sur, Yenişehir) in the academic year of 2018-2019. There are 28 independent kindergardens in Diyarbakır central districts and there are 270 teachers who are employed in these schools. In this study, I didn't take samples, instead I included all the teachers who are imployed in independent kindergardens. For this reason, the scale was delivered to 241 teachers who are employed in 27 formal independent kindergardens and the all the delivered scales were evaluated. As data collection tool, "Communication Skills Scale" and "Organizational Climate Scale" are used. In the communication skills scale, there are 34 articles, and "Task oriented communication, Informative communication, Feedback, Attitude and behavioral communication" are located as a subscales. In the organizational climate scale, 32 articles and "Leadership type, Organizational structure, Organizational communication, Organizational aim" are located as a 4 subscales. Data obtained from the study was analyzed using the SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) package program. In the analysis of data; Independent Sample t-Test, One-way ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Scheffe and Mann-Whitney U test were used. However, the dependent variable to determine the level of independent variables predictive, Multiple Linear Regression Analysis was conducted. İt is clear at the end of the study that preschool teachers have the general opinions that, considering the level of managers communication skills, "the informative communication" evaluations are in the highest level, in return of that, "the attitude and behavioral communications" are in the lowest level. The pre school teachers have the general opinion about the independent kindergardens related to organizational climate, the evaluations on the base of "organizational aim" are in the highest level, in return of that, the evaluations on the base of "organizational communication" are in the lowest level. Among the views of the preschool teachers related to managers'communicational skills; there are no remarkable difference in terms of gender, marital status, age, year of service, professional seniority, the gender of the school manager, the age of the school manager and the number of the staffs in schools. However, the age difference among the demographic differences considering the preschool teachers views related to organizational climate was observed as a significant difference in the dimensions of "organizational aims" in favor of the age of 36 and beyond. At the same time, significant differences were observed among the teachers who are employed in the schools consisting of 1-9 staffs and among the teachers who are employed in the schools consisting of 10-20 staffs or beyond 21 in the dimensions of "leadership type", "organizational structure" and "organizational aims" in terms of the number of school staff. According to the regression analysis results, it is observed that the managers' communication skills (task oriented communication, informative communication, feedback, attitude and behavioral communcation) affect %75 the change on the organizational climate (leadership type, organizational structure, organizational communication, organizational aims). This result shows that the managers' communicational skills effect the organizational climate significantly. And also "informative communication variants and attitude and behavioral communicaiton" variants(p<0.5) which are among the communicational skills effect the organizational climate in a positively whereas the task-oriented communication variants and the feedback variants (p>0.5) effect the organizational climate slightly.
