Abstract (EN)
Helicobacter pylori is the first formally recognized bacterial carcinogen and is one of the most successful human pathogens, as over half of the world's population is colonized with this gram-negative bacterium. In this study, we aimed to investigate the efficiency of probiotics in H. pylori infection before and after treatment by determining the changes in immunoglobulin M (IgM), interleukin-10 and white blood cell counts besides biochemical parameters such as blood urea, creatinine, total protein, albumin, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, and lactate dehydrogenase. For this purpose, ELISA and biochemical spectrophotometric methods have been used. As a result, the interleukin-10, immunoglobulin (IgM), and total white blood cells levels showed a significant increase in H. pylori group when compared with the control groups. But significant decreases has been determined in treatment groups. Also, we determined significant increase in blood urea, creatinine, AST, ALT, ALP, and LDH levels in all test groups, but significant decrease in total protein levels when compared with the control groups. There was no significant differences in albumin levels between the groups. According to the findings of the current study that probiotic treatment has a significant role in reducing H. pylori disease and its complications and the emergence and development of this disease.
