Abstract (EN)
The present study compares the knowledge levels of the students of the faculty of sports sciences and the students of the teachers' college and presents the results. The sample of the study comprised a total of 259 students studied in the Faculty of Sports Sciences and in the Teachers' College in Uşak University in the 2016-2017 Academic Year, who were determined by the random selection method. The average of the responses of the students to the questions about their depression perceptions was determined to be 1.49. Accordingly, no signs of depression were determined among the students who took part in the study in general. When the questions in the depression scale were examined individually, a low level of depression perception was determined only for one question. In the 6th entry, the result of "I feel I will be punished for something." was obtained. A statistically significant difference was found between the students studying in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching and the ones studying in the Department of Sports Management and in the Teachers' College. When the differences between the averages were examined, the depression perception of the students studying in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching was found to be statistically significantly lower comparing to the depression perception of the students studying in the Departments of Sports Management and Classroom Teaching. As a result of the correlation analyses carried out in order to determine whether there was a statistically significant difference between the depression perception of the students and their level of motivation, no statistically significant difference was found between the depression perception of the students and their general perception of motivation, its dimension of 'instinctual process', its instrumental dimension, its dimension of 'external self concept' and its dimension of 'internal self concept'. A very low level of negative correlation was determined only between the students' depression perception and the dimension of target internalization. Accordingly, it can be said that the motivation of the students increases slightly in the dimension of the target internalization depending on the decrease in the depression perception of the students.
