Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between the retirement tendencies of education administrators (school and institution administrators) aged 50 and over working in public education organizations and their perceptions of organizational belonging, and the views of retired education administrators on retirement life. The study was carried out in a convergent parallel design, which is one of the mixed research methods. The target population at the quantitative stage consisted of 236 education administrators aged 50 and over working in the provinces of Kırklareli, Edirne and Tekirdağ, and the sample consisted of 182 education administrators (school and institution administrators). The preliminary application of the quantitative stage was carried out on 401 education administrators aged 50 and over, working in nine central districts of Ankara. The study group of the qualitative stage of the research consisted of 20 education administrators (school and institution administrators) residing in the provinces of Kırklareli, Edirne and Tekirdağ and retired by working in public education organizations. The quantitative data of the study were collected with the "Retirement Tendency Scale of Education Administrators" and "The Scale of Perception of Organizational Belonging of Education Administrators" developed by the researcher. Qualitative data, on the other hand, were obtained through interviews conducted using the "Retired Education Administrators' Opinions on Retirement Life Form" developed by the researcher. In the analysis of quantitative data, frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation were used to describe the situations related to the variables. The t-test, ANOVA, Mann Whitney and Kruskall Wallis were used to test whether the retirement tendency and organizational belonging perception of education administrators differ according to the relevant independent variables. The level, direction and effect of the relationship between retirement tendency and perception of organizational belonging were tested with Pearson and Spearman correlation tests and lineer regression test. Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis method. According to the results of the analysis of the quantitative data, it was determined that the tendency of education administrators to retirement is at a moderate level, and their perception of organizational belonging is at a high level. A low positive correlation was found between the general retirement tendencies of education administrators and their general organizational sense of belonging. According to the analysis results of qualitative data; It has been observed that more than half of the education administrators are satisfied with their retirement decision. The desire to get rid of the stress in management has been the most determining factor in the retirement decision of education administrators. Education administrators are mostly engaged in agriculture in their retirement lives. Retired education administrators suggested to their colleagues to prepare for retirement by making plans for retirement, and to policy makers and top administrators to make legal arrangements to ensure that the salary does not decrease when they retire. The suggestions of the researcher are as follows: The authorities of education administrators should be increased in proportion to their responsibilities and their tendency to retirement should be reduced. Retired education administrators should be provided with discounted benefits from various services such as intercity and international transportation, vacation, housing and loans. Training administrators should be provided with retirement training before and during retirement.
