The effect of empathy and job satisfaction in servise quality of the nursing

This study is carried out to explore the relationship between empathy and job satisfaction. This study also underlines the fact that nurses, as one of the most important members of the health care team, need to have high levels of empathy. The constant communication of nurses, with patients, with patient relatives and with physicians leads to conflicts and trigger work-related stress. As a result, job satisfaction is negatively affected. The level of empathic tendency and interpersonal relationships have a positive correlation. Good comminication at job will increase job satisfaction in spite of adverse conditions. High levels of job satisfaction require also high levels of empathic tendency. This idea is the basic reference for this study. This study employs theoretical methods. Personal experiences have also been used. The outline of this study consists of three parts; while the first and second parts examine the concepts of empathy and job stasifaction, the final part discusses the relationship between them. Printed works, previous research studies, articles, theses, internet resources, and personal experiences have been used.as resourcesAs a result of this study, important relationship between empathic tendency and job satisfaction were observed. It was also noted that this relationship varied due to certain personal and environmental factors. Basically, the people with high skills of empathy tend to have higher levels of job satisfaction despite unfavorable conditions. Therefore, training and education should be provided at schools and also at work to increase empathic tendency.
