Examination of the relation between the hopelessness level and aggression status of the students of industrial vocational high school

The purpose of this research is to examine the relation between the hopelessness level and aggression status of the students attending industrial vocational high school. To this end, hopelessness scale and aggression scale were applied on the sampling group. The total grades obtained from these scales were examined in terms of variants such as the zone where the high school is situated, the department students are in, their sexes and ages, classes, the courses they fail in, their parents? being dead or not, the educational level of their parents, the professional status of their parents, the income level of their families, the situation of their houses and the number of their siblings.The universe of this research which has the quality of behavioral scanning model is composed of students attending the industrial vocational high schools located in the Asian Side of Istanbul and the sampling group is composed of 316 male and 22 female students attending the industrial vocational high schools located in the districts of Kadıköy, Beykoz and Ümraniye in the Asian Side of Istanbul.According to the results obtained from the research, it is seen that there is a meaningful positive relation between the hopelessness level and aggression status of the students attending different departments of the industrial vocational high school. The department where the student is studying yielded to meaningful results for hopelessness and aggression scales: The Furniture Department ranked the first in the list designed for the average of both scales; the Electronics Department was differentiated in the hopelessness scale, whereas the Mechanics Department was differentiated in the aggression scale. It was seen that the aggression scale was differentiated according to the class, while the hopelessness scale was differentiated according to the courses the students fail in and their income level.
