Abstract (EN)
The statement of the problem: Purpose of this study was to research the possible mediating effect of parental attitude on the relationship between impulsivity and emotional eating. Method: The method of this research is generated from 400 participants; 177 female and 223 male participants who are adolescents aged between 14-17. In this study participants are students from 3 high schools in Besiktas district of Istanbul. Barratt Impulsiveness Scale-11, Emotional Eating Scale, Mother-Father Attitude Scale and Sociodemographic Form were applied in this study. The analysis of data in the research was carried out with the SPSS program. Results: Since the correlation between acceptance / attention, control / supervision and psychological autonomy and emotional eating, which are the sub-scales of the parental attitude scale, was not significant, the mediator effect analysis could not be performed. In this research, Tukey test, One-Way Anova test and T test were used. Conclusion: Significant differences were found between the Barratt Impulsivity Scale and demographic variables of the study between school type, number of siblings, education level of parents, parental attitude and income level. With the Emotional Eating Scale, there were significant differences between the demographic variables of the study, the number of siblings, their position amongst other siblings (first born, middle or youngest), and the education level of parent's variables. When all these findings are evaluated, since the literature studies in this area are limited, further focus on this area are recommended for future studies. Key Words: Adolescence, impulsiveness, emotional eating, parental attitude, body mass index
