Abstract (EN)
This study intends to examine the relationship between the behaviour of self-harm, anger management, and impulse control in adolescents. Following this aim, the research is conducted face-to-face through the survey method. The sample of this research consists of a group of adolescent individuals in the Iznik District of Bursa Province, Turkey. With the intent of determining the scores of the behaviour of self-harm, anger management, and impulse control of the participants, studies of validity and reliability in Turkey, The Inventory of Statements About Self-injury (ISAS) and Continuous Anger and Anger Expression Scales (AngerEx) and The Barratt Impulsiveness Scale are used. In the research findings, the Pearson Correlation test was applied to the correlation between Barratt and AngerEx, and for the correlation between Barratt and ISAS, and ISAS and AngerEx, Spearman's Correlation test was applied. According to the Spearman correlation analysis, a weak relationship in a positive direction was detected between ISAS and Barratt scores and ISAS and AngerEx scores. (Respectively r=0,384, 0,169; p<0,001). According to the Pearson correlation analysis, a weak relationship in a positive direction was detected between Barratt and AngerEx scores (r=0,367; p<0,001). The study found a weak relationship in a positive direction between self-harming behaviour, anger management, and impulse control in adolescents. No significant relation was found between self-harming behaviour and gender, the education level of the parents, whether the mother and the father are together, or a diagnosis made by a doctor. The study found a weak relationship in a positive direction between anger management and impulse control. It is concluded that in this phase, it is significant to give psychoeducation to adolescents and carry out activities to prevent self-harming behaviour so that they can achieve anger management and impulse control.
