Abstract (EN)
The objective of this study is to compare the traditional method applied in strength trainings (3days in a week- 6 weeks) of male volleyball players with the effects of cluster set method on performance of agility and vertical jumping. The population of the research is composed of the athlete in Turkey Men's Volleyball League of 2018-2019, whereas the sampling of it is composed of 28 male volleyball players who voluntarily participated in the research. The athlete who participated in our research were divided into two groups in a controlledly randomized manner as the control group (n=14) and experiment group (n=14). The sportsmen in the experimental group were applied strength trainings with cluster set method 3 days a week for 6 weeks in addition to their weekly ordinary volleyball technical trainings. The athlete in the control group were applied traditional trainings method in strength exercises 3 days a week for 6 weeks in addition to their weekly ordinary volleyball technical trainings. The athlete's performances of vertical jumping and agility, measurements of their anthropometric and bio motor abilities, were measured as pretest and posttest. In the statistical assessment of the data 18.0 SPSS package program was used. The significance level in the study was determined to be p<0.05. Descriptive statistics were performed regarding physical features (age, height, and body mass index) and varieties of vertical jumping and T-test agility of the control and experimental groups. Shapiro –Wilk Test was applied in order to examine if the variables complied with the normal distribution or not. Matching t-test for those complying with normal distribution and Wilcoxon signed rank test for those that were not compatible to normal distribution were utilized for examining the difference between the pretest and posttest in the group. The difference between the groups were examined with independent sampling t-Test for variables compatible to normal distribution and Mann Whitney U test for those that were not proper for normal distribution. In order to examine the effect of training, the difference between vertical jumping and T-test agility and pretest-posttest were taken as a basis. According to the findings obtained from the research, statistically significant increases were determined in the parameters of agility and vertical jumping of each group in itself, after different strength trainings of six weeks. Considering the average differences between groups, it can be said that experimental group showed an increase with a higher predisposition than control group for vertical jumping variable (p<0.01), thus training program applied to cluster experimental group made more contribution to vertical jumping in comparison to traditional training program. It was observed that the t-Test agility values showed progress in time for post test rather than pretest for both groups, and in experimental group, the performance periods has decreased with a greater tendency( p<0.01). The training program applied in cluster experimental group can be said to make more contribution to agility than traditional training program. In conclusion, it is thought that with the application of cluster set strength training method more positive effects can be provided in vertical jumping and agility performances than traditional training method. Key words: Cluster set method, Traditional method, Volleyball, Strength.
