Abstract (EN)

The developments after the French Revolution and the Industrial Revolution revealed that Western countries needed to modernize and become a nation. The newly established Republic of Turkey soon started the nation-state building process. This study deals with the propaganda practices used in the early Republic period Turkey and the results of these practices in order for the nation-building process to be successful. As a newly established state, Turkey has developed important policies for the success of the nation-building process and implemented these policies seriously. The main reason for this is that the accepted new regime emerged from the Empire, which was a multinational structure, and it aimed to create a single-nation, especially within the framework of the concept of "Turkish Nation". For this reason, many methods and techniques have been used in order to successfully achieve the purpose of the nation-state building process. The first of these is propaganda activities. Considering the conditions of the period, in addition to mass media such as newspapers, radio, theatre, cinema and textbooks, slogans, marches etc. It was aimed to build a strong nation by using these tools. The main question of this research is to determine how and with which tools the propagandas used in this period were carried out. While some of the generation continued to be loyal to Atatürk's principles and revolutions, some of them were people who reacted to the new revolutions. Therefore, the main subject of this study is which types of propaganda tools and how they are used.
