Abstract (EN)

This study first aims to examine the effect of early maladaptive schemas and attachment level on social media jealousy in romantic relationships. In addition, the study also aims to determine whether the level of social media jealousy in romantic relationships differs according to socio-demographic characteristics. Within the scope of the study, 422 adults between the ages of 18-45 were reached and "Socio-demographic Information Form", Young Schema Scale Short Form-3", "Social Media Jealousy in Romantic Relationships Scale" and "Inventory of Experiences in Close Relationships-II" were applied to these participants. The data obtained here were analyzed through SPSS-22 and in this context, Pearson correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, independent sample t-test, and one-way ANOVA were used for groups with homogeneous distribution, yet Kruskal Wallis test were used for groups without homogeneous distribution. The results of the analysis showed that the participants' vulnerability to threats, defectiveness, abandonment, social isolation and failure schemas and attachment level were positively related to social media jealousy in romantic relationships. This relationship also exists between the dimensions of social media jealousy in romantic relationships and the dimensions of attachment level. In addition, it is among the results of the study that the level of social media jealousy in romantic relationships differs according to some demographic variables. When the effect of early maladaptive schemas and attachment level on social media jealousy in romantic relationships was examined, it was seen that only attachment level had a predictive effect. The results obtained were discussed with related domestic and foreign studies. Considering the fact that there are no other studies addressing the existing variables together, it can be said that the study has a guiding quality for future research on early maladaptive schemas, attachment level and social media jealousy in romantic relationships.
