Abstract (EN)

Armenians, who have managed to continue their struggle to exist among different communities and nations for centuries, have also fought great wars to protect their own culture. A new name emerged regarding the alphabet necessary to maintain their national identity, Mesrop Mashtots. Mesrop, who managed to make a name for himself due to his knowledge of Greek language and literature, was taken into palace service. His service in the palace did not last long, and then he became a priest and chose to become an instructor of the Christian religion. When he realized that the Christian religion was not understood among the Armenians, he found the alphabet, which was the strongest tool to preserve their language and culture for many years, and started a new era. MS. They managed to preserve their national identity with the alphabet invented in the 5th century. The alphabet that emerged as a written language went through three phases: Classical Armenian, Middle Armenian and Modern Armenian. Classical Armenian, colloquially known as Krapar, began to be used as the language of the Church. It also went down in history as the period when church teachings were written in the first form of the alphabet. The Middle Armenian period coincides with the period when the alphabet began to develop and some letter additions were made. With the addition of some sounds, the alphabet has now become adept at representing the language spoken by the Armenian people. The emergence of folk literature also coincided with these centuries. The period called New Era Armenian is the period when Armenian was divided into Eastern and Western Armenian with the formation of different dialects. It is seen that during these periods of the alphabet, Armenian language made progress and gained rapid adoption among the people. There was an increase in the number of manuscripts, and the public began to understand the teachings of the Christian religion more easily. Armenians, who further strengthened the ties between them after the alphabet, did not neglect to produce original works in various fields.
