Clothing names in old and middle Turkish texts and language study

The thesis which entitled "Clothing Names in Old and Middle Turkish Texts and Language Study" is a lexicologic study which scopes of 334 clothing names were compiled from old and middle turkish texts. The purposes of the thesis are to introduce the system of turkish clothing names; to show the clothing names which survive in modern turkish dialects by collecting them from old and middle turkish texts. In the thesis are applied historical and descriptive method, additionally compilation and comperative technics. The introduction of the thesis contains information about the clothing, its description, the sources of turkish clothing culture, turkish clothing type and clothing culture in old Turks. In the first chapter of the thesis were the clothing names classified according to sub-types of clothing names as footwear, headwear, underwear, outwear, breeches, clothing parts and accessories. In this chapter are given the variants of the clothing names in modern turkic dialects and other neighbour languages. The lectical and semantic meanings of the names and origins have been analyzed in the second chapter of the study. In this part the origins of the names have given too. Names in the thirth chapter of the thesis which entitled "Grammatical Analysis" were analyzed as phonetical, morphological and semantical. In conclusion general assessment was made in the light of the obtained information and findings.
