Abstract (EN)

Cancer is the second most common cause of death worldwide and its incidence is increasing according to the years.In 2018, 421,164 deaths were seen in Turkey and 19.7% of them were cancers. Country; frequency, mortality and morbidity rate has become an important public health problem in terms of social and economic burden. Health workers are of critical importance in this regard and in our study, it was aimed to determine the knowledge levels of Eskişehir Osmangazi University Medical Faculty Hospital health workers about the National Cancer Screening Program and the characteristics affecting their utilization of these programs.A total of 318 health workers, including 209 women and 109 men of the gender were included in our study, and 30.2% of the participants reported that they had cancer screening; As the most commonly used screening methods, 31.8% stated that they had Breast Self Examination,15.6% had a doctor's examination, and 13.2% had breast USG. In our study, the mean score of the Cancer Information Load Scale was calculated as 17.59±4.51 and the Cancer Information Burden Scale score was higher in the participants who smoked, consumed alcohol, did not receive information about cancer screening methods and did not have cancer screening. In our study, the mean score of the Attitude Scale towards Cancer Screening was calculated as 95.93±12.27, and the participants who stated that the female gender had a doctorate status, had any cancer diagnosis diagnosed by a physician, received information about cancer screening methods, recommended cancer screening by their doctor and had cancer screening,The scores they got from the Attitude Scale Towards It were found to be higher.In our study,the mean score of the Health Perception Scale was calculated as 50.11±7.60 and a positive moderate relationship was found between the score of the Attitude Scale towards Cancer Screenings and the score of the Health Perception Scale. As a result, it was determined that health workers, who have an important role in the education and guidance of the public, did not participate in the screening tests at the desired level.
