Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of LED daylight, LED warm white and LED blue light on the certain performance, meat quality, and welfare characteristics of the broilers were investigated. The material of this study was consisted of 216 male chicks (ROSS-308), obtained from middle-aged (37 wk) broiler breeders were used. The chicks were weighed and divided into 3 groups which had 3 different lightining. Chicks were placed in 117 X 61.5 X 90 cm (width X length X height) compartments as 8 chicks. Each group consisted of 9 repetitions. During the experiment body weight, weight gain, feed consumption and feed conversion ratio were measured weekly and mortality, carcass yield and percentages of heart, liver, gizzard and abdominal fat were determined. pH, cooking losses and water holding capacity of breast meat were analyzed. Also tonic immobility, foot pad dermatitis, breast burns, pH of litter and moisture of litter were analyzed. One-way analysis of variance, Duncan test and Chi-square test were used for the significance of the differences among the mean values of the groups. At the end of six weeks of the experiment, the body weight in LED daylight, LED warm white and LED blue groups were determined as 3428.31±35.38; 3342.85±32.40 and 3219.17±17.52 g (P<0.001). The highest body weight gain during the fattening and the highest slaughter body after the fattening were defined in the broilers raised in LED daylight, but the lowest in the those of LED blue light. The means in the groups during the fattening were calculated as 5131.12±43.51, 5032.10±40.99, and 4925.47±23.10 g (P<0.01) for the total feed consumption, and 1.51±0.01, 1.52±0.01, and 1.55±0.01 (P<0.01) for the feed conversion ratio, respectively. It was determined that the broilers raised in LED blue light had the lowest feed efficiency (P<0.01). The means for mortality rate, carcass yield, percentages of internal organs, breast meat quality, tonic immobility duration, foot pad dermatitis, breast burn and the litter pH, and moisture were similar (P>0.05) among the LED lightining groups. As a result, LED blue light negatively affects the fattening performance of broilers; however, it was determined that the groups were similar in terms of some slaughter, carcass, meat quality, and welfare characteristics.
