Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the role of alexithymia, psychological symptoms (depression-anxiety-stress), personal emotion regulation (suppression, cognitive reappraisal) and interpersonal emotion regulation (co-brooding and co-reappraisal) in dyadic adjustment. In the first step of the study, the Interpersonal Emotion Regulation Questionnaire: Co-Brooding and Co-Reappraisal in Couples was adapted into Turkish. In this adaptation study, data were collected from 200 people between the ages of 21 and 65. The Interpersonal Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, which was adapted, was found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool. In the next step of the study, 511 people between the ages of 20 and 75 were included in the study. Then, a hierarchical regression analysis was performed to examine the variables that predict the dyadic adjustment. When the analysis results were examined, it was seen that alexithymia, psychological symptoms, personal and interpersonal emotion regulation significantly predicted dyadic adjustment. In the mediator variable analysis performed after this procedure, the mediator role of personal and interpersonal emotion regulation was discussed. When the mediator variable analysis results were examined, it was found that co-brooding and co-reappraisal had a partial mediating effect between alexithymia and dyadic adjustment; suppression and cognitive reaapraisal had a partial mediating effect between psychological symptoms and dyadic adjustment; It was found that co-brooding and co-reappraisal had a partial mediating effect between psychological symptoms and dyadic adjustment. Only because the alexithymia variable did not predict the cognitive re-appraisal variable, a model could not be established regarding the mediating role of personal emotion regulation between alexithymia and dyadic adjustment. The findings of the study was discussed in the light of the relevant literature.
