Fakhr al-Din al-Razi's references and critics on Mu'tazila

The present study addresses the references to and criticisms of the Mu'tazila, which have become a tradition in Kalam, with a particular focus on Fakhr al-Din al-Razi and within the framework of specified topics. In this context, it is aimed to present an example of the Ahl al-Sunnah theologians' references to and criticisms of the Mu'tazila and to analyze these criticisms in a scholarly manner. In this direction, the topics are discussed under the headings of divinity, verbs, ru'yatullah and kalamullah, and husn and qubh, where the references and criticisms are centered. The study is important in terms of the grounds on which the Mu'tazila, who systematically addressed all the issues of kalam as the founders of the discipline, were criticized. Indeed, the Mu'tazila were criticized from various aspects in the process that started with the expulsion of Wasil ibn Ata from the council of Hasan al-Basri and continued with the departure of Imam al-Ash'ari from the Mu'tazila, and this became a tradition. This tradition was continued in almost all al-Ash'ari and al-Maturidi kalam works. In this context, the present study aims to investigate the grounds and nature of these criticisms, which are important in terms of the kalam thought.
