Heavenly bodies in the Fârâbî

The subject of celestial bodies is an issue that arises in the studies on the structure of the universe. As a matter of fact, while the universe is examined physically and mathematically and is the subject of astronomy and cosmology, the relationship of the universe with God constitutes a metaphysical issue. In this context, the famous Turkish-Islamic philosopher Fârâbî also examines the structure of the universe. This study deals with the subject of celestial bodies in the case of Fârâbî. The study consists of two parts apart from the introduction part. In the introduction, information is given about the comprehensive concepts used throughout the thesis and included in the lines. In the first part of the study, the teachings and systems about celestial bodies and the structure of space, which were put forward before Al-Farabi, are conveyed. The second part of the study constitutes the content of the thesis. Because the thesis tries to examine whether Fârâbî is the subject of natural science and metaphysics in terms of celestial bodies. In this context, the second part is divided into two parts in itself. Accordingly, the first part, the celestial bodies, the second part, which he controls from the framework of natural science, especially the celestial bodies from the center, including the subject of metaphysics. While benefiting from many works of Fârâbî in the study, al-Medînetü'l-Fâzıla and es-Siyâsetü'l-Medeniyye are used as bedside sources. Finally, in the conclusion part of the study, it is emphasized that Fârâbî's original views on the heavenly bodies and the structure of the universe were put forward, in addition to the systems he inherited.
