Relationship between 2d:4d ratio and some biochemical and endocronological parameters effect performance in elite female athletes from different branches

The purpose of this study was to compare 2D : 4D digit ration of elite athletes from different branches on sports performance , some hormones, vitamins and minerals that effects performance, also to search the relationship among these parameters.Totally 103 voluntary female participated in this study. 77 of them were experimental group that was included elite female athletes from different sport branches like soccer ( n=18 ), volleyball ( n=12 ), handball ( n=14 ), boxing ( n=9 ), track and field ( n=7 ), weightlifting ( n=10 ) and taekwondo ( n=10 ), the rest of the subject were sedentary university students ( n = 26 ) was classified as control group.2D : 4D digit ratio of the subjects were determined by x-ray film of both hands. Athletic performance of the subjects was assessed by wingate and 30 m sprint test. Hormone vitamin and mineral values were determined by blood analysis. Statistical analysis of the findings was done by using SPSS 15 package program. The realtionship among blood, hormones, finger digit ratio, vitamins-minerals and performance in sport branches and sedanters was calculated by Pearson Correlation Test. Assessment of difference between branches was tested by ANOVA.Wingate test scores ( PP, AP and MP ) and 30 m sprint scores of the experimental group were significantly different than control group ( P<.0.05). 2D:4D ratio of the all athletes from different branches were significantly lower than sedentary group ( P<0.05 ).The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between 2D:4D digit ratio, performance and some hormones. Consequently these findings indicated that 2D:4D digit ration can be an important indicator to determine sports performance.
