Abstract (EN)

Our country is located in one of the active earthquake zones due to its geographical location, which reveals that earthquakes are a part of our lives. Natural disasters such as earthquakes are among the factors affecting the construction processes of buildings. In this context, regulations with certain conditions and principles have been developed for the existing buildings in our country. The aim of this study is to produce three 1/5 scale, single span and two-store reinforced concrete frame specimens that can reflect the changes in earthquake regulations and to determine their behaviors under earthquake effects. The main variable in these specimens was the reinforcement details. The specimens were tested under reversible-repeatable loads simulating earthquake loads. Within the scope of the study, one specimen was selected and tested as a reference to better observe the differences. According to the results obtained, it was observed that the reinforcement details applied in the reinforced concrete frame significantly affected the frame behavior. The stiffness, load carrying capacity, strength and energy dissipation capacity of the frame increased when the lap lengths were kept high and the spacing of the transverse reinforcements was frequent. This study makes an important contribution to the design and construction of earthquake resistant structures. The findings will help to consider earthquake effects more effectively in future building projects.
