Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to determine the effects of different planting times on yield and some yield components in corn (Zea mays L.). The study was carried out in Harran plain conditions, in Şanlıurfa-Suruç conditions in 2024 according to the randomized block design with 4 replications. SY Cadmium hybrid corn variety was used as material in the study. A total of 10 planting times were tested as planting times on March 1, March 15, April 1, April 15, May 1, May 15, June 1, June 15, July 1, July 15. While ANOVA was applied to the obtained data, the multiple comparison test (LSD test) was also applied to the significant corn plant yield and yield parameter averages. It was determined that planting times had a statistically significant effect on other characteristics examined except stem thickness (p<0.01). When the effect of different planting times on corn grain yield is taken into consideration. In July 1 planting time, the highest grain yield in corn cultivation was determined as 1455.80 kg/da on average. In corn cultivation in March 1 planting time, the lowest grain yield was determined as 636.98 kg/da on average. It was determined that corn plant heights and grain yields in late planting periods were higher than in early and middle planting periods. In line with this information, it was recommended that corn planting be between 15 jun and 1 may in Şanlıurfa Suruç district and similar regions.
