Examination of science teachers' attitudes towards analogy in terms of different variables

In the research, it is aimed to examine the attitudes of science teachers towards analogies, which are frequently used in science lessons and facilitate the teaching of concepts by establishing strong relationships between an unknown concept and a known concept. Within the framework of the stated purpose, scanning model was used as a method in the research. The population of the research consists of 480 Science teachers working in public secondary schools in the central districts of Malatya in the 2021-2022 academic year. The sample of the study consists of 275 science teachers who were determined by the "Simple Random Sampling" method among the teachers in the universe. In the study, "Attitude Scale Towards Analogy" was used to determine the attitudes of science teachers towards analogy. In the analysis process of the research data, independent samples t-Test and ANOVA test were used because of the normal distribution of the data. In the study, it was concluded that the attitudes of science teachers towards analogy were concentrated at the level of "I agree". As a result of the research, it was determined that the attitudes of science teachers towards analogy differed significantly according to the variables of educational status, gender, taking any course, seminar or course related to analogy and the physical condition of the school where they worked. In addition, in the research, it was found that the attitudes of science teachers towards analogy did not differ significantly according to the variables of professional seniority, the location of the school where they worked, the duration of work at the school, the faculty graduated, the number of students in the classes in the school where they worked, and the most common classes in the school where they worked. determined.
