Frequency of body symptom disorder and combination with type d personality feature in patients with fibromyalgia diagnosed by physical therapy and rehabilitation polyclinic

Objective: The rate of admission to clinics other than psychiatry for somatic symptom disorder is quite common. For this reason, it is important to keep in mind in the differential diagnosis by other branches. Type D personality traits are common in patients with physical symptoms The aim of our study is to determine the frequency of somatic symptom disorder and its association with type D personality traits in patients with fibromyalgia who applied to the physical therapy and rehabilitation outpatient clinic. Method: In this study, to 250 patients between the ages of 18-65 to Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Medical Faculty Hospital and Beyhekim Training and Research Hospital physical therapy and rehabilitation Socio-demographic data form, Patient Health Questionnaire-15 (PHQ-15), Somatosensory Amplification Scale (SSAS), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAD), Type D Personality Scale, Somatic Symptom Scale will be applied.The patients were diagnosed with Somatic Symptom Disorder according to the DSMV diagnostic criteria by conducting a psychiatric interview within the scope of SCID/CV (Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5/Clinical version) by the researcher. Results: The prevalence of somatic symptom disorder was found to be 26.8% in patients who applied to the physical therapy and rehabilitation outpatient clinic. The frequency of D type personality traits was found to be 33% in patients. The frequency of type D personality traits in patients with somatic symptom disorder was found to be 49.3%. There was no statistically significant difference in terms of sociodemographic data between the group with somatic symptom disorder and the group without. PHQ-15, SSAS, HADS, D type personality scale scores were found to be significantly higher in the group with somatic symptom disorder. Conclusion: In our study, it was determined that the frequency of somatic symptom disorder was higher in patients who applied to the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation outpatient clinic compared to the general population, and its association with type D personality and characteristics was more frequent. Keeping the symptom disorder in mind in fibromyalgia patients is important for its treatment and prognosis. Large sample studies are needed to support our findings.
