Abstract (EN)

In German-Turkish literature, writers have generally written about labour migration from Turkey to Germany since the 1960s and the difficulties faced by people who migrated to Germany for various reasons, as well as the problems of identity and belonging and the processes of isolation experienced by women in particular. In his novel Liebesbrand, Feridun Zaimoğlu deals with issues concerning different female characters who have settled both in Germany and in Turkey. The author offers the reader the opportunity to get to know the cultural and religious background of the women. Turkish-German literature is an important guide to understanding the problems of women who, on the one hand, are liberated and, on the other hand, can be categorised as modern. In this thesis, the interpretative approach was used with reference to the science of intercultural literature. In doing so, this work was limited to the above-mentioned work and identified the diverse characteristics of the women who, for various reasons, present different ways of behaving and thinking. The thesis intends to analyse the image of women in the above-mentioned work by Feridun Zaimoğlu, representative of German-Turkish literature, in order to be able to make readers understand the lives of women from different cultures and traditions. The aim is to make a contribution in view of the rapidly increasing prejudice against women, especially the isolation processes that women can go through in a society, and to set an example to prevent to some extent the incompatibility and alienation from their own identity that they experience.
