A psychoanalytic examination on Füruzan's stories

As there have been no theoretical analysis of Füruzan, one of the most important women writers in Turkish literature, in the academic works so far, this study aims to complete this missing aspect. Psychoanalytic literary criticism has been found appropriate to analyze the stories of the writer and the thesis entitled "A Psychoanalytic Examination on Füruzan's Stories" has been written. The aim of this study is to illuminate the spirit world and unconscious mind of the heroes of the Füruzan and bring a different perspective to the stories. After a brief introduction to psychoanalytic theory in the first part of the thesis, which consists of five parts, the importance, scope, limitations and the purpose of the study are given. First the development of psychoanalytic theory as a result of the efforts of different people and then its relationship with the literature are studied in the second part. Before analyzing the stories of Füruzan, a short explanation is given about Füruzan's life, art and works. The fourth part constitutes the main part of the thesis. In this part the stories are scanned respectively and evaluated according to the criteria of psychoanalytic literary criticism. Examples are given to the concepts of Complex of Oedipus, the contrast of the imaginary and symbolic space, birth trauma and melancholy which are seen in the stories. All findings are arranged in a statement. In the final part the results obtained from the study are indicated and psychoanalytic approach has been found appropriate to analyze the works of Füruzan. In this section some psychoanalytic works in the literature and the status of Füruzan in this aspect are compared shortly and commented.
