Investigation of the relationship between football players' self-critical thoughts and the levels of violence and aggression in sports

The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between the Self-Criticism thoughts of the Footballers and the Levels of Violence and Aggression in Sports. In the 2022-2023 football season in Kütahya province, 375 volunteers between the ages of 18 and 40, who continue to play active football, participated in our research. A demographic information form consisting of 10 questions prepared online, aggression inventory and problem solving inventory scales were applied to the participants. It was determined that the total scores of the aggression sub-dimensions differed significantly by age groups (p<0.05). Athlete state self-criticism scores were found to differ significantly according to age groups (p<0.05). It was determined that the aggression scale sub-dimension scores did not differ significantly according to the variable of marital status (p>0.05). Athlete state self-criticism scores were found to differ significantly according to marital status (p<0.05). It was determined that the total scores of the aggression sub-dimensions differed significantly according to the family economic status (p<0.05). It was determined that the athlete's state self-criticism scores did not differ significantly according to the family economic status variable (p>0.05). It was determined that the aggression sub-dimension scores did not differ significantly according to the league status variable (p>0.05). It was determined that the athlete's state self-criticism scores differed significantly according to the league status variable (p<0.05). According to our research result; Results of demographic information such as age, education status, alcohol use, family support for sports, reason for doing sports and self-definition had an effect on aggression and state self-criticism dimensions.
