Abstract (EN)

Objective: Gastrointestinal system (GİS) bleeds are among the gastroenterological ailments. Among the causes of complaints made to the emergency departments, gastroenterologic emergencies are still among the most important due to the high mortality and morbidity. We retrospectively analyzed the cases with complaints of GİS bleeding in our study. Thus, it was aimed to show what could be the most appropriate treatment methods. Material and methods: The relationship between age, mortality and endoscopic findings, age, sex, demographic characteristics, habits, duration of hospitalization, mortality rate and drugs used, endoscopy findings in patients undergoing endoscopy, treatment modalities, Hemogram, biochemistry and coagulation values, By gender; Duration of hospitalization, blood transfusion requirement, mortality, duration of admission, and the effect of mortality were investigated. SPSS 18.0 package program was used for statistical analysis of the data. Results: During the 6 months period, 164 cases presented with GIS bleeding complaints. Sixty-five (39.6%) of the cases were female and 99 (60.4%) were male. Age range was between 21 and 97. 48,8% of the cases with gastrointestinal bleeding in the hospital complained of Melena, 24,4% with Melena and Hematemez, 15,8% with hematemesis, 6,1% with Hematochea and 4,9% with Syncope complaint Have applied to my hospital. The mean duration of hospitalization was 4.65 ± 4.14 days. 37% of the cases ranged from 1 to 4 days in duration, while 37% were 5-10 days, 8% were 11-15 days, 9% were 16-20 days and 9% were longer than 20 days He was in hospital for a while. 143 cases (87.2%) and 21 ex (12.8%) were observed in these cases. Endoscopy was performed in 98.2% of the cases and 1.8% of the patients who could not be stabilized could not undergo endoscopy. Various treatments have been applied according to the needs of the patients who come to our hospital. At least 56% of the drugs used in the treatment of GİS bleeding patients use ppi, at least 0.6% of ppi + mai + tdp mixture and ppi + es + tdp mixture. Patients who underwent and did not undergo endoscopy were statistically compared between hospitalization / intensive care unit / hospitalization periods and there was a significant difference between them. Conclusion: A quick decision must be made to guide the diagnosis and treatment of GI hemorrhagic patients. Male patients are more common than female patients. Patients scheduled for early endoscopic procedures showed a decrease in intensive care hospital stay. In order to reduce mortality, besides providing bleeding control, other accompanying diseases must be treated with caution. Especially old and addicted patients should be monitored under intensive care conditions because their mortality is high. Key words: GİS bleeding, ppi, es, tdp, Endoscopy
