Abstract (EN)

Forensic Medicine, which is in the ecotone of law and medical sciences, works in a fertile and multidisciplinary field that intersects with many members of natural and social sciences due to this feature. Especially in law and forensic pathology; forensic psychiatry, forensic toxicology, forensic serology, forensic ballistics, forensic traffic, crime scene investigation, forensic entomology, forensic anthropology, forensic photography, forensic imaging, forensic dentistry, forensic case identification, forensic nursing, health law, criminology, forensic informatics although it is in close contact with many health, science and social science branches; "What is Forensics?" The best answers to the question were given by Sir Sidney Smith and Behçet Tahsin KAMAY: "Forensic Medicine is a collection of medical and non-medical scientific information that can be used for the purpose of applying the law." By going through the simple and clear definitions of Forensic Medicine, the starting point of the history vector in this direction can be based on the practices in Ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilizations. Common points in both Forensic Medicine definitions; The existence of a legal authority and the opinion of an expert that meets the need for a medical opinion for its expertise, another point that should not be overlooked is the fact that the law essentially determines the framework of Forensic Medicine practices. That is why there are differences in the Forensic Medicine practices of even separate states in the same legal system cluster, from the great differences between the major legal systems in the world (such as Continental European and Anglo-Saxon Legal Systems).
