Architectural features and the conservation of traditional Mardin pavilion on research methods

In Mardin, mansions in the garden that has an iwan with the fountain are called ?pavilion?. Apart from Mardin?s traditional urban fabric, traditional Mardin pavilions that are placed in interior garden have never been documented before. These pavilions, the original owners of which are noble families, have changed hands or been abandoned because of various reasons or been destroyed from lack of maintenance. These pavilions that are dated to the period of Aruklu are confronted to conservation problems. Because of changing life conditions and these conservations problems that change according to internal and external factors, traditional Mardin pavlions will disapper. One of the objectives of this study is to have a guiding nature of applications about documenting, presenting, conserving and keeping traditional Mardin pavilions live.
